Learn about the Classic's in a Time Machine

WGUC, Cincinnati’s classical music station, wanted to offer young listeners an
exciting, hands-on introduction to composers and their work.

In answer, Total Media Source came up with the Time Machine.  Imagine how much more interesting school would have been had we all had access to this kind of interactive learning!

The Time Machine takes potentially dull subject matter and transforms it into an adventure.  The look and feel of the piece are a little mysterious, inviting youngsters (and adults) to explore and discover.

Visitors to the site click on a musical period and then select a composer whose music they would like to hear.  As they click on each composer, a list of historical events from that individual’s lifetime appears.  The additional information puts the composer’s life in a historical context and provides visitors with a history lesson – a “short and sweet” one!

The Time Machine has been very successful in attracting visitors to the WGUC Web site.  Chris Phelps, Vice-President of Marketing for the station, is more than pleased with the piece and with the increase in traffic that resulted from its appearance on the WGUC site.

Client Testimoial:
Fun and interactive were the two words I used to guide the planning for WGUC's Classics for Kids® website, www.classicsforkids.com. Thanks to research conducted with our target audience, kids aged 5-12, as well as our own experience with the families in our audience, we knew that the website's success with children would hinge on these two aspects. The work done by Total Media Source in creating the interactive games - Compose Your Own Music, Become a Rhythm Master and Classics for Kids Time Machine - was instrumental in fulfilling these two objectives. From concept to finished game, Total Media Source was a true partner in the games' development. I appreciated the creativity, skill and professionalism with which they approached each game. The final results were amazing. I am happy to report that we are very pleased with the reception... Its first month of operation resulted in a 106% increase in visitors over the old Classics for Kids web page. Unique visitors increased 136% that month.
These results would not have been possible without our meeting the challenge of presenting a fun, interactive website. Total Media Source made it
happen. Thank you!
